I problemi del web con iPad mini

Benché nell’articolo che segue il problema viene attribuito all’iPad mini, resto1 del parere che il problema sia di chi produce contenuto:

Dal punto di vista grafico, siamo di fronte ad un qualcosa di già visto quotidianamente

Senza titolo-1

ma di colore rosso (“salita vietata”?!), che letto con la tipica cecità selettiva dovuta al lessico limitato dell’uomo medio (“declino”?!) che va di fretta, aiutato dalla rima e dal grassetto, suona come “fare per fermare”.

Posso fare i complimentoni al creativo?

È l’Italia che va

Questo libro di manifesti delle dimensioni conseguenti1, 2 (A3 per circa 3 kg), oltre ad essere un buon concentrato di storia iconografica e di refusi nella versione italiana (ah, stampato e rilegato in Cina), dà una chiara idea della dappochezza del nostro paese e delle di lui radici.
Nei manifesti rappresentati a partire dalla fine dell’800 agli anni ’60 del novecento, di qualunque nazionalità siano purché non italiani, il messaggio pubblicitario (compra questa macchina, compra questo accessorio) viene in genere accompagnato solo dal nome dell’autore del poster e dell’agenzia/tipografia, della concessionaria dove comprare l’articolo. Punto.
Questo vale per il Venezuela, la Francia, la Germania, l’Algeria, e gli USA, tra gli altri.

Sui nostri oltre il messaggio pubblicitario, unici al mondo, si possono leggere cose come:

ed altre amenità del genere.
Non ce n’è traccia nella Germania nazista, non nella Francia e nelle colonie Algerine.
L’unico paese di buffoni che da secoli si dà regole e norme, le avverbia con assolutamente, severamente e tassativamente e se ne sbatte i coglioni.
E ti viene da pensare che in questi giorni c’è ancora il deposito obbligatorio di epoca fascista e il reato di stampa clandestina e che nessuno dei governi che si sono succeduti da allora ad oggi ha mai nemmeno pensato di abolire.

The great skeuomorphism misunderstanding

No, I’m not quite ready to let the skeuomorphism thing die just yet. Humor me.
I was relieved that Tim Cook dismissed Scott Forstall and put Jony Ive in charge of Human Interface.
I was surprised when I read so many articles that seemed to misinterpret what had just happened.

I lost count of the articles proclaiming the death of skeuomorphism. Such as:
Skeuomorphism is (finally) dead: So what is Apple’s next move? and Jonathan Ive to rid skeumorphism in iOS and OS X.

News flash: skeuomorphism is not dead. What’s dead are cheesy, antiquated graphics — like the stitched leather look in Contacts and Calendar. These were aberrations in a world that had been built upon good taste.

Papers is now officially part of Springer Science+Business media!

Your first question is probably “Why did you decide to become part of Springer”?

A little more than 5 years ago Papers was born in between Alex’s PhD and postdoc. It was a simple application designed to do one thing very well: organize your scientific PDFs, in a way very similar to how iTunes organizes your music files. But like iTunes, we have steadily grown Papers to do much more. And with each new version of the program, we realize how much more we could do, and what potential Papers has to help researchers even more.

But there is only so much a small team like ours can do, and a day really only has 24 hours. It hurts having to say no to really good ideas, or having to delay new releases when other things demand priority. That’s why we are so excited to become part of Springer. It will help us to take Papers to the next level and will allow us to improve the app, bring you new features faster, and give you better support. All with the same dedication and excitement you are used to get from us. We can’t wait to get going!
